The Donkey Barometer, for Violin, Clarinet and PianoInstrumentation | Violin, Clarinet and Piano
Duration | 7 minutes.
Comments | This work is inspired on the traditional ceramic tile used to predict the weather. Each variation corresponds to a different weather state (the theme corresponds to the fine weather, then the first variation to the rain, the cold, the wind, the fog, and even an earthquake. The motive that opens the work is taken from the Donkey imitation sound that Saint-Saëns uses in The Carnival of Animals, and the earthquake variation cites the opening motive of Beethoven's 5th symphony. There are also some humorous effects, such as sneezing and coughing in the cold variation. It has not yet been premièred.
